GSC Investment Corp. (NYSE:GNV, and hereinafter "GSC Investment" or the "Company") is a business development company that seeks to generate both current income and capital appreciation through debt and equity investments primarily by investing in first and second lien loans and mezzanine debt of middle market companies and select high yield bonds.
GSC Investment Corp. is managed by GSCP (N.J.) L.P. (“GSC Group)”, an SEC registered investment advisor. The GSC Group U.S. Corporate Debt Group (“CDG”) manages the day to day operations of the Company including: the sourcing, underwriting, due diligence of investment opportunities, and portfolio monitoring. The GSC Group CDG management team has been in place since 2002 and is led by Richard M. Hayden, Vice Chairman of GSC Group and Chairman of GSC Investment Corp., and Seth M. Katzenstein, Managing Director of GSC Group and Chief Executive Officer of GSC Investment Corp. The CDG management team had assets under management of approximately $3.9 billion as of 6/30/08 and has raised 11 collateralized debt obligations and collateralized loan obligations funds since 2000. GSC Group's CDG is known for its middle market lending platform, which currently participates in approximately $3.5 billion of loans to U.S. middle market companies. The Company believes that it will benefit from its access to this successful platform and will be able to leverage GSC Group's existing relationships to source investment opportunities.
